Medical marijuana was approved by 71 percent of Florida voters in 2016. During this year’s special session, the Florida Legislature crafted Senate Bill 8-A, which provides a framework for patients to access medical marijuana safely. On July 3, 2017, the department adopted Regulation 1-1.01: Medical Marijuana for Debilitating Medical Conditions, to implement Senate Bill 8-A (Ch. 2017-232, Laws of Florida) and Article X, Section 29 of the Florida Constitution.

The Department provides bi-weekly updates of changes in the medical marijuana industry in Florida.
Medical marijuana is available in Florida, however, regular marijuana use remains illegal under federal law.
